THANK HORSES FOR CINEMA. Étienne-Jules Marey 12fps ‘chronophotographic gun’. from 1882. The term ‘shooting’ has a legit history clearly. Also here are some of the little exposed ‘films’ he made (or series of photographs). He used the camera to study how animals and humans move. Muybridge actually shot his famous hourse series several years earlier to prove Marey’s suggestion that, for a moment, a galloping horse has all hooves off the ground (or so the wiki says). Im not sure if Marey had any photographic evidence of this which is why Muybridge did the experiment it seems. SO…we can thank horses for cinema.
