ST saw TWILIGHT PORTRAIT at Lincoln Center as part of the New Directors program. Here is Richard Pena with the director (Angelina Nikonova) collaborator (writer and lead actress Olga Dihovichnaya), and DP and ST collaberator Eben Bull. The film was fantastic. Among many other things it was a complex indictment of the treatment of women in modern day Russia as well as an investigation of the masculine problem / disfunction that may be at the root of this problem. Additionally, as noted by the Dihovichnaya it probed one of the tenants of the new testament, that being ‘turn the other cheek’. ST thinks it has an interesting dialogue / lineage with Varda’s VAGABOND…which is one of ST’s favorite films. Lastly…we’ve been singing Eben Bull’s praises all week and his cinematography was exceptional. Go Eben. Go TWILIGHT PORTRAIT team. FEED THE FEED
