SeeThink watches the interview and thinks a littlebit. SeeThink says he said something to this effect in the interview ‘an artist must overcome technique (or the technical)’. SeeThink thinks this is true. There are some problematic semi-romantic ideas about ‘primitive’ art in there…todays art is sophisticated in a way most people are intimidated by…but we dont think that value has been lost. In any case its a fascinating little excerpt. SeeThink also think J. Renoir was a much better artist than his father who was a shitty painter…but thats just SeeThink’s opinion…
