Bob Rafelson talks about FIVE EASY PIECES (one of ST’s favorite films). ST thinks Rafelson’s career is curious. Why so few films? ST wishes Rafelson had made more films. Interesting story about Nicholson not wanting to do what became his iconic scene with the 1/2 dead father. ST also thinks is really annoying that people (like the guy interviewing him always assume that great work has to somehow come from an autobiographical urge. ST thinks this is a romanic idea…that may be true from time to time…but does not have to be.
